Spoiler

In the desolate plains of North Dakota, a somber scene unfolds. Wade Wilson, known to the world as Deadpool, stands before a freshly dug grave. His usual irreverent demeanor is replaced by a raw, palpable anger. The object of his fury? The stark reality that his dear friend, Logan, the indomitable Wolverine, is truly gone. All that remains of the legendary mutant is his adamantium skeleton, a grim testament to a life lived and lost. This moment of profound grief is violently interrupted. Agents from the enigmatic Time Variance Authority descend, their arrival a harbinger of cosmic disruption. In a surge of protective rage, Wade commandeers Logan's skeletal remains, unleashing a brutal, N*Sync-fueled rampage against his assailants. Donning the iconic claws of the fallen hero, Wade embarks on a journey that will redefine his purpose and challenge the very fabric of existence.

Our narrative rewinds to 2018, a time when Wade Wilson, yearning for a life of genuine heroism and to honor his beloved Vanessa, sought a new path. Armed with Cable's temporal technology, he attempted to infiltrate Earth-616, the prime Marvel Cinematic Universe, with aspirations of joining the Avengers. His interview with Happy Hogan proved disastrous. Hogan, unimpressed by Wade's immaturity and lack of focus, dismissed him outright. Disheartened, Wade returned to his own reality, trading his Deadpool persona for a mundane existence working at a car dealership alongside Peter for the past six years, a self-imposed retirement from his mercenary life.

The quietude of Wade's life is shattered on his birthday. A celebratory gathering at his apartment, filled with his closest companions – Vanessa, Blind Al, Dopinder, Negasonic Teenage Warhead, Yukio, Colossus, Shatterstar, and Buck – takes a melancholic turn. The festive atmosphere belies a painful truth: Wade and Vanessa had long since parted ways, each pursuing separate lives. As the party winds down, an unexpected summons arrives. A persistent knocking at the door reveals not the expected revelers, but the TVA agents. Mistaking them for an unconventional entertainment service, Wade attempts to jest, only to be forcibly pulled through their temporal portal.

Wade awakens in the sterile confines of the TVA, face-to-face with an agent named Paradox. He initially believes his temporal transgressions with Cable's device are the cause of his predicament. However, Paradox reveals a far more significant threat. Wade is presented with an official offer to join Earth-616, a universe he recognizes as the MCU. Driven by a desire for purpose and the potential to truly make a difference, Wade accepts, embracing a new Deadpool suit. This decision is partly influenced by a grim premonition of a future where Thor mourns his demise. Paradox then delivers a devastating revelation: Wade's universe is on the brink of collapse. Its "anchor being," the very entity preventing its disintegration, is deceased. That being, he chillingly reveals, is Logan. Wade's universe is slated for pruning, and with it, the lives of everyone he holds dear. In a moment of defiant fury, Wade headbutts Paradox and seizes the universe-jumping device, determined to find a new Logan and avert this catastrophic fate.

His quest for a suitable Wolverine takes him across a multiverse of possibilities. He encounters a short, comics-accurate iteration, a variant sporting the classic yellow and brown suit, and even a startlingly accurate portrayal by Henry Cavill, a near-miss that almost plunges DC into the fray. Each attempt ends in failure, with these Wolverines ultimately tearing him apart. Finally, he locates a Logan drowning his sorrows in a bar. After incapacitating the weary hero, Wade brings him back to the TVA, only to be informed by Paradox that this particular Wolverine is the worst of them all, responsible for the downfall of his own reality. A further twist emerges: Paradox and his immediate agents operate independently of the main TVA. As Wade attempts to expose this conspiracy, Paradox, in a swift act of temporal erasure, prunes both Wade and Logan from existence.

They awaken in the desolate expanse known as The Void, a nexus of pruned timelines. A brutal, no-holds-barred brawl ensues, a cathartic release of their shared frustrations. After a violent exchange, they reach a truce, recognizing the necessity of their combined efforts to save Wade's universe and restore Logan's. Their fragile alliance is soon tested by the arrival of a mysterious outsider, who Wade initially mistakes for Captain America. His hopes of hearing the iconic "Avengers, assemble!" are dashed when the outsider exclaims, "Flame on!", revealing himself to be Johnny Storm. Their brief respite is shattered by the appearance of Pyro and his band of mutant villains, including Sabretooth, Logan's ancient adversary. Logan dispatches Sabretooth with brutal efficiency. The heroes are ultimately captured and brought before Cassandra Nova, the malevolent twin sister of Charles Xavier, who presides over her dominion from the colossal skeleton of Ant-Man.

Within Cassandra's fortress, surrounded by formidable minions like Juggernaut, Toad, Psylocke, and Azazel, the heroes face their direst challenge. Cassandra, with her formidable psychic abilities, demonstrates her ruthlessness by skinning Johnny Storm alive, prolonging his conscious agony. She delves into Wade and Logan's minds, unearthing painful memories, including the details of Wade and Vanessa's breakup. Their conventional weapons prove useless against her. As Cassandra prepares to condemn them to the consuming maw of Alioth, Wade and Logan seize an opportunity amidst the chaos, escaping in a rocket-powered leg.

Their crash landing leads them to a dilapidated diner, a sanctuary for sustenance. Wade probes Logan about his past, his status as a revered figure in Wade's universe, but Logan remains reticent. Their path then crosses with Mary Puppins, a canine variant with an unusually long tongue, whom Wade instantly adores. They also encounter "Nicepool," a remarkably friendly and unmasked Deadpool variant, who warns them of the impending arrival of the Deadpool Corps, who are tasked with eliminating them.

Nicepool provides Wade and Logan with a minivan, facilitating their escape towards the borderlands and a potential return home. During their journey, Wade inadvertently confesses his deception to Logan regarding the TVA's ability to rectify his universe's fate. Logan, enraged by the betrayal, confronts Wade, questioning his capacity for heroism. Their argument escalates into another violent confrontation, leaving them both unconscious.

An unknown entity commandeers the minivan, transporting the incapacitated heroes to a hidden resistance base. Here, they encounter a formidable assembly: Elektra Natchios, Blade, and the long-awaited Remy LaBeau, also known as Gambit. The leader of this resistance is Laura Kinney, who recognizes Logan as a variant of her own father. They are survivors of The Void, their ranks decimated by Cassandra Nova, who has claimed the lives of many, including Daredevil, the 2005 Fantastic Four, and Quicksilver. They are poised to confront Cassandra, but Logan remains unwilling to join their cause.

Later, Laura finds Logan contemplating by a campfire, sharing Gambit's liquor. He finally divulges the tragic events of his universe: his refusal to join the X-Men, the subsequent massacre of his teammates, and his own vengeful rampage, which inadvertently claimed innocent lives. He wears the iconic suit as a somber memento of his fallen comrades. Laura draws a parallel between his past and her own Logan's, assuring him that he can still be the hero they need. This revelation prompts a change of heart in Logan, and he agrees to aid in their fight against Cassandra.

Meanwhile, on the fringes of The Void, Pyro communicates with Paradox, revealing their clandestine alliance. Paradox intends to activate the "Time Ripper," a device that will accelerate the destruction of Wade's universe. He dispatches Pyro to locate Wade, Logan, and their allies before they can thwart his plan.

The heroes launch a daring assault on Cassandra's stronghold, with Blade breaching the defenses. Wade and Logan advance towards Cassandra, while the others aim to retrieve Juggernaut's helmet, crucial for neutralizing her powers. Elektra, Blade, Gambit, and Laura engage the mutant villains in a fierce battle. Blade eliminates Toad, Gambit dispatches henchmen with his explosive cards, and Laura incapacitates Juggernaut. Wade and Logan reach Cassandra, but she overpowers them. She probes Logan's mind, urging him to embrace death as an escape from his grief. Laura arrives with the helmet just in time for Wade to place it on Cassandra, temporarily subduing her. However, Cassandra warns them that killing her will prevent their return home, and removing the helmet will result in their demise. Logan attempts to reason with Cassandra, invoking Charles Xavier's compassion for humanity and mutantkind. Pyro intervenes, intending to kill Cassandra himself, but Logan incapacitates him. Cassandra, now free, utilizes Doctor Strange's sling ring to open a portal for Wade and Logan, just as Alioth emerges. As the other heroes witness their departure, Cassandra learns of Paradox's sinister plot from Pyro.

Wade and Logan return to their universe, only to be confronted by Paradox. Cassandra emerges from the sling ring portal, accompanied by Pyro, whose neck she snaps. She forces Paradox to reveal the Time Ripper's location, intending to annihilate all universes, leaving only The Void. As they prepare to intervene, they are met by Dogpool and Nicepool, followed by the formidable Deadpool Corps, led by Lady Deadpool and featuring an array of variants. Wade uses Nicepool as a shield to retrieve his weapons, resulting in Nicepool's death, as he lacks regenerative abilities. Logan, for the first time, pulls down his mask, signifying their true partnership as Deadpool and Wolverine. They systematically eliminate the Deadpool variants to the tune of Madonna. Peter, now "Peterpool," intervenes, asserting Wade's allegiance to him, causing the Deadpool Corps to stand down, as each universe has its own Peter.

Cassandra initiates the Time Ripper's activation just as Hunter B-15 uncovers Paradox's crimes. Deadpool and Wolverine infiltrate the base. Paradox reveals that shutting down the Time Ripper requires disrupting its matter and antimatter power flow, a sacrifice that will prove fatal. Wade and Logan argue over who will make the ultimate sacrifice, with Wade attempting to lock Logan out. He manages to grab one cable as Cassandra begins draining the timelines, but Logan bursts through, joining hands with Wade. Their combined bodies act as conductors, overloading the Time Ripper, destroying it and obliterating Cassandra.

B-15 confronts Paradox, who attempts to evade responsibility. Wade and Logan, miraculously alive, appear. B-15 has Paradox arrested and discovers that Wade and Logan's actions have restored Wade's universe. Wade inquires about returning the other heroes from The Void and fixing Logan's universe. While the others can be reinstated, B-15 explains that Logan's tragic past forged him into the hero he is, and his universe requires no alteration. They bid farewell, and Wade and Logan head out for a meal.

Logan prepares to depart, but Wade extends an invitation to join him in his universe. They are later seen with Wade's friends, Laura, and a seemingly reconciled Wade and Vanessa, hinting at a renewed relationship.
